So much for sport during the summer in KZN! It started off in relatively good weather and ended in rain. Needless to say to the score…

Bye Bye Aussie
It was a sweet goodbye in the Grade R class to Sonya who was leaving for Australia.
Bean Bags and Buckets
It all starts at the bean bag and bucket stage – developing aiming and throwing skills in February. Not so easy when you’re in Grade 2.
Preserving Food
The ways and means of preserving food are taught during Grade 9 Technology lessons. Who knows when these skills may come in handy.
Technology Training 2009
Mr Cockwell’s technology training session held on 12 February is becoming an annual event at DSS. These learners are the avid future participants in the Technology Olympiad which takes place later in the year.
First day of 2009
On January 2009, Domino Servite School opened its doors for the 24th year. With a full team of teachers and eager learners, we were ready to face the challenges of the academic year. The Grade R 09 class received a special welcome with balloons and sweets to make the first day of ‘big school’ something to remember.

Athletics 2008
Athletics
Interhouse
The new field was ready for the Interhouse Athletics meeting held on 1 and ? October, albeit a bit sandy. Thank you to Mr Karl Heinz Duvel and those who so ably assisted him.
Highlights
With the track being on the sandy side one did not expect many new records to be set. However, 22 new records were set and one was equalled. 11 of those records were track records, most of them in the junior age categories. André Engelbrecht improved the Boys 14 years 200m record by almost a whole second to 26,6s on the sandy track! He also set a new record in the 100m event. Another impressive performance was that of Timothy Olsen who improved the Boys 15 years Javelin record by more than 3m to 46,33m. Mamazane Maphanga cut off almost 30 seconds from the Girls 19 years 3000m event with her time of 14:09.9. Both Jaco Coetzee and Joshua Lopes improved the Turbo Javelin records in their respective age groups by a number of metres.
