The Sweetness of Sugar Bay
We were warmly welcomed on 8 May at Sugar Bay by the “crew” for a Life Orientation experience few will forget. The crew included, amongst others, Blade(leader), Hippo, Butternut, Nutty, Roach, Sprite, Little, Chocolate, Sangoma. After off loading the bus everybody gathered in the ‘hall’ where the learners were introduced to the crew and house rules were discussed.
Life Sciences Grade 12 Practical

Slabbers & Chinwaggers
Now who would have thought that Grade 7 boys would be able to lay slabs? Well at DSS many things are possible! Between the chinwagging, resting, and the rest I’ll leave up to your imagination, they did (with the help of their teacher) get the slabs laid on 2 April. Ten out of ten for the initiative, boys.
Cricket Juniors vs Hermannsburg
The weather certainly co-operated at last for the Junior Cricket team after having cancelled a number of planned matches due to rain. And what a surprise, they convincingly won the one match they did play against Hermannsburg.
Term 1 Award Assembly
An award assembly is held at the close of each term at DSS where the achievements of the term are acknowledged and the learners receive their awards. This term was not different. Congratulations to the award winners.
National Ground Water Week
I bet you did not know that it is predicted that South Africa’s water demand will exceed its supply by 2025! These are the kind of facts you would have seen displayed in the library during National Ground Water Week 17 – 23 March. Interesting books were also on display.
