Award Assembly held on 24 June was the full stop on a frenzied 2nd term.
Learners were involved in numerous co-curricular and extra curricular activities as well as the mid-year academic challenges of the examinations. Award assemblies close the term in a joyful celebration of God’s goodness and faithfulness to DSS.
Programme Directors; Head Girl, Estelle Pretorius and Lungile Maphumulo, welcomed our guests and explained the proceedings. Monica Allen and Reneé Green conducted the Bible reading in English and Afrikaans respectively. The Foundation Phase learners, under the direction of Grade 2 teacher, Mr Strauss, entertained the audience with two song items. Other musical items included a Grade 6 recorder group, the Music Ensemble and the Brass Band.
The prize winners list was rather short due to the number of activities that will be concluded in the 3rd and 4th terms. Congratulations to all the Term 2 achievers.
