The Grade 10 Life Orientation subject involves an annual Adventure Camp and a community outreach project.
On 7 February the Grade 10 girls did their community service at the Emseni Care Centre at KwaSizabantu Mission. The Emseni staff appreciated the girls’ effort. They cooked a delicious lunch, scrubbed floors, washed windows, and did the ironing. They also got the garden back into shape. Thank you to Mr Cele, Mr Ntuli, Ms Vosloo and Mrs Knieper.
On 14 February the Grade 10 boys visited a nearby home where a grandmother lives with her 9 orphaned grandchildren. The boys took food along for the family. They helped to clean the gardens, plant potatoes, put up a washing line and lay paving slabs outside the home.

The boys adventure camp took place from 6-8 February and the girls camped from 13-15 February. The learners were split up into smaller groups. As a team they had to make camp in a forest; build shelters, cook food and survive two nights sleeping out. For many it was their first camping experience and they were thankful to return to their comfortable beds at home once again. However, many said that they wished they could have spent a day or two longer ‘out in the wilds’.
