DURBAN STYLE & CROCODILES

On 15 September the Grade 9 class visited the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban and Crocodile Creek near Ballito.

The Moses Mabhida stadium is a stylish structure. The shape of the arch was inspired by the Y-shape on the South African flag. The roof is made up of 26 000 m² of Teflon-coated fibre glass that produces a translucent glow when the stadium is lit up. It has a seating capacity of 56 000 but can be up scaled to 85 000 for major events, like the FIFA World Cup games that were hosted in 2010.

Likewise, Crocodile Creek introduced the learners to new facts and interesting experiences. In addition to holding a live baby crocodile, learners were taught about these amazing creatures, of which the most memorable was when the presenter demonstrated the attacking ability of a 5m, 85-year-old giant.

Unlike crocodiles that only need to eat once a month, we enjoyed one of our daily meals at McDonalds.
