During the third term the Grade 11 economics class hosted a member from the South African Reserve Bank. Mr. Zeph Nhleko presented a very interesting talk on amongst other things, the history and functions of SARB.
Although the South African Reserve Bank is an institution that is mainly concerned with the formulation and implementation of monetary policy, it fulfils a number of other tasks as well. The main ones include:
- Comment on monetary policy developments and macroeconomic trends in general
- Ensure that the financial system is sound
- Banker of the Government
- Management of the South African money and banking system
Mr Nhleko was also shown around the Mission by Mr Ano Stegen and was very impressed with all the projects he saw.
