The final Award Assembly for 2017 took place on 30 November. At this assembly learners get some idea of their performance in the final examinations because many of the awards are based on the whole year’s academic results.
Mrs E Hlongwana and Mr W du Toit directed the interesting programme consisting of reading, speeches and presentations sandwiched between Christmas musical items. The whole school sang a wonderful Christmas favourite, ‘The Birthday of a King’. Nolukunga Memela and Julian Witthoft read from Isaiah 9:2,3 & 6,7 in English and French respectively. The ensemble and brass band presented delightful Christmas melodies.
At this assembly, learners who achieved Bronze merits or Half Colours in sport and extra-curricular activities are awarded. Subject Achievement Awards are presented to learners in the Senior and FET Phases who achieved 80% + in their subject marks or aggregates. 97 learners achieved Subject Achievement Awards. We were privileged to have Mrs HS Strauss who assisted with the award presentation.
