Treasure Island was the place to visit on Fun Day, 28 June, this year.
The Pre-Primary, Foundation Phase, the Maqokho crèche as well as home scholars in this age group were invited to enjoy the day with the organising Grade 11 class.
The school hall and surroundings were transformed into an island with a boardwalk, a sea and chests filled with treasure. The Grade 11s set up the 10 stations where the little ones could do various fun activities. On arrival each child was presented with a personalized goody bag, with the treasure map on the back, in which they could collect their prizes while participating. Mr Pretorius and Mr Hlongwane warmly welcomed everyone and opened the proceedings with prayer.
And while parents relaxed in the Tea Garden the fun began with
…hoisting the flag high above the ship, lowering the anchor into the waves of the sea, digging for gold in the sand or sailing a tube down a slip-n-slide… finding the way past creepy-crawlies in a ship maze, throwing rings onto hooks, feeding the fish, feeling creatures in water and sand, fishing for silver coins or “darting” the gulls in their nests…
…and ended with some snacks and drinks before going home with a goody bag full of prizes and lovely memories.
