SACSSA Athletics Championships

The National Athletics Championships took place in Sasolburg on 25 and 26 September.

11 teams competed for the national SACCSA trophy and KZN did extremely well at the competition achieving a medal count of 114. 61 medals were achieved by DSS athletes: 24 Gold, 24 Silver and 13 Bronze.

29 records were broken at this competition. 9 of these were broken by KZN athletes and 4 of these were DSS athletes.

Congratulations to Ndumiso Dumakude who set a new SACSSA record in Long Jump. His performance was 6.48m
Sthandiwe Memela set a new SACSSA record in 600m. Her time was 2:05.60.
Sehliselwe Hlongwa set a new SACSSA record in Triple Jump. His performance was 13.23m.
Janek Stegen was placed 2nd in Javelin but he also broke the record with a 53.16m performance. Congratulations on these outstanding performances.

KZN took the honours by taking the pole position. G7 took second place and Gauteng came third.
